YOU WERE THERE

A genre-spanning 8 song anthology of tracks born to inspire those who take on a world that swings back. From the semi-autobiographical rise-from-the-ashes alt-metal, southern goth battle cry “Ride or Die” to the lush & whimsical waltz of jubilation “Joy,” (featuring the late Yuri Turchyn on violin, Bill Dellicato on keys plus soaring backing vocals from Laura Catalina Johnson and Rich Kelly) Darren Johnson (Cobra) & Mark Fahad (The Outlaw) testify for those on the outside looking in.

Themes of valor & devotion are explored in the reprisal of their decades old track “Hero” into “Hero-Save The Day”; a symphonic alt-metal march to war led by the bombastic drums of Vic Montanaro, the furious fretwork of Fahad and the stentorian Johnson on all vocals. That song is tethered by the hauntingly dark Americana hymn, “Hero, Too – Storm Cloud Remix.” (The 2021 origin song was a fund raiser for a local Hospital’s COVID 19 Emergency Relief Hospital Workers.)  “Endless Possibilities” features Josie Award winning singer Lisa Coppola and made the initial ballot for 2023 GRAMMY Awards® (Best Americana Performance, Best American Roots Song categories.)  A stripped down, dust-kicking Delta Blues throwback “Stomp The Blues Away” celebrates restoration, revival and the cool little town of Red Bank, NJ accented by Scott Burton on banjo & Pat Murphy on Harmonica.

The title track, “You Were There” is a plaintive, soulful Southern rock hymn of vocalist Johnson's once-lost-now-found redemption, buoyed by the keyboards of Kendall Scott, the kiss-the-sky  inflections of Fahad on lead guitar, the pulsing bass of Aaron Manzo,  flowing rhythym guitar of Robbie Kenny and a tour de force choir in Kelly, Pat Murphy, DeeDee Montanaro & Dawn Hopkins.

OMEGA TRAIN writes anthems for underdogs.  The album  “You Were There” emphatically makes that case.

PRESS

“Omega Train proves that longevity in music is about growth, adaptation, and an unwavering commitment to artistic authenticity. With You Were There, the band offers listeners more than an album; they deliver a narrative of resilience that resonates far beyond the boundaries of genre or era.”

-Graham Peters
Hit Harmony Haven

“Omega Train's You Were There doesn't ease into motion; It charges forward with intent and grit…"
“…In the end, You Were There stands as a timeless collection of songs rooted in authenticity and heart.”

“The vintage sound, performative charisma and of course the passion is oh so lovely. It takes over you, comes at you like a nostalgic tsunami…”

--Leela Iyer
The Whistling Traveler

“Omega Train’s “You Were There” is a commanding return, delivering a multi-genre, emotionally charged experience that reinforces the band’s signature “suburban apocalypse blues.” Spanning eight tracks, the album channels a compelling mix of indie rock, southern-tinged guitar, and gospel-infused emotional depth, creating a sound that is simultaneously raw and refined. From the opening notes, the listener is drawn into a journey where joy, pain, loss, and redemption intertwine seamlessly, carried on thunderous rhythms and whiskey-soaked guitar lines.”

--Faithfulness
Dulaxi

“In an age where music is often treated as a disposable commodity, this album feels like a solid object, something with weight and purpose. It is a celebratory acknowledgement of the human spirit’s ability to endure and reinvent itself. The New Jersey spirit is alive and well in these recordings, proving that some of the best music in the world is still being made by those who have spent their lives in the trenches of the independent scene.”

BIO

  They write Anthems for Underdogs.

Erupting from the heart of the Garden State comes OMEGA TRAIN; an indie rock band of power, passion and palpable emotion.  Their sound? They call it “Suburban Apocalypse Blues.” It’s like KISS fighting Lynyrd Skynyrd at Little Richard’s barbecue. A mad teddy bear poet wailing angst and irony over a southern-fried gunslinger’s guitar riffs, infused with walking bass lines and body punch percussion

Formed in 1990, the band formerly known as “Last Train Out,” this genre blending group played the NJ/NY gig circuit and released the album “Three Alarm Fire” (2003). Cobra (Lead Singer) & The Outlaw (Lead Guitar) now ride again, with new and previously unreleased material—more hook driven song craft for the 21st Century. Call it “hard folk” or “southern rock soul,” OMEGA TRAIN’s destination is straight to the heart of the listener. Get on board. Throw the “O” and LET THE TRAIN ROLL ON.
